1994-2003 Audi S8 (D2)
The first generation Audi S8, known as the D2, heralds Audi's foray into the high-performance full-size luxury car segment, produced from 1996 to 2003. As the pinnacle of Audi's S models, the S8 combines the elegance of the Audi A8 with mechanical enhancements and the legendary quattro all-wheel drive system, embodying a perfect blend of luxury and performance in a short-wheelbase format. Initially launched with a robust 4.2-liter V8 engine, the D2 S8 offered 340 PS (250 kW; 335 hp), achieving acceleration from 0–60 mph in 6.2 seconds, with a curb weight of 1,730 kg (3,814 lb).
In 1999, the S8 received a significant performance boost, with the engine's output increased to 369 PS (271 kW; 364 hp), which reduced the 0–60 mph acceleration time to an impressive 5.6 seconds. Despite its increased power, the top speed remained electronically capped at 155 mph (249 km/h), with the updated model having a curb weight of 1,845 kg (4,068 lb).
